Grandma turns 60!!!

A couple of weekends ago, we had a family get together at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri for Grandma's 60th birthday party. Max loved hanging out with the entire family! Here are some highlights from the weekend.

Max got fussy at the party, but GiGi (Max's great grandma) was like a baby whisperer. We handed him over to her, and he immediately calmed down. I guess she has some experience in her 91 years. My Aunt made those hats that we are all wearing. Phil put his on as a "rally cap" and wore it like that all night. We thought that GiGi looked like she was a professional poker (well, maybe bingo) player.

Phil says that this is the look that Max gives him in the middle of the night when he wakes up and doesn't want to go back to sleep. It is very discouraging because we can barely open our eyes, and he is eyes wide open.

Max adores my sister, Aunt Jennifer, and my best friend, who we call Aunt Jacey.

My cousin, Craig, would not let us leave until we got a good picture of him with Max, so here is the best one we got.

This was pretty funny. Max absolutely loves his cousin, Evelyn. Every time she came around, he would be all smiles. Max thought it was the funniest thing when she jumped up and down and made funny noises. If he was fussy or crying for some reason, she would come over and jump up and down for him, and he would immediately change his mood and laugh at her. I need her to live closer!

Mommy came out of her shell during this vacation. Phil and I were able to leave for an entire afternoon and go on the boat that my Aunt and Uncle brought down. (Max stayed on shore with Grandma). We were out on the water for 7 hours and had some drinks. We stopped for dinner at this little bar on the water, and this is just one picture of many that shows how we were the life of the party. We had a great time!

Grandma, GiGi, Max, and Charles (my nephew) welcome us home after spending all day on the water. This picture was taken from the boat.

Poop face

Max has a very distinct face he makes when he is pooping. His face gets red and he starts grunting. It is so cute, and I laugh almost every time I see him doing it. See below...

First time swimming

We took Max to the pool for the first time last week. Turns out he loves it! His little feet looked like prunes when he got out of the pool because he was in it for so long. We started him out in his floaty but then just ended up holding him and letting him splash the water with his feet. He absolutely loved it for a little while, but when he was over it, HE WAS OVER IT! He started hysterically crying and I had to strip him down at the pool side. He wouldn't stop crying, so I just wrapped his naked butt in a towel and walked him home. He went right to sleep. He must have been exhausted from all of the excitement he had!

Daddy went fishing with a buddy of his for the first time this year, and Mommy and Max decided to meet them out at the lake to offer our expert advice. It was 90 degrees and absolutely no wind. Needless to say, it was miserably hot to just sit and watch these 2 guys not catch any fish. We got this picture before we knew what we had gotten ourselves into. About 5 minutes later, we were both drenched in sweat and decided to leave. The fishermen were not far behind us and came home empty handed.

Butts

Max has a big ole butt...oh yeah?!?! Phil is obsessed with Max's chubbiness, and he loves to comment on "all of his butts". You can see in this picture that he has several rolls that look like a continuation of butts. They are all super cute, though!

This was just a funny picture I caught randomly. He was sitting on a blanket, and I noticed his butt peeking out of his diaper. I had to catch that one on film!

Special visitors

We had some close friends visit us a couple of weekends ago. Aunt Jacey came to Indianapolis for the whole weekend to hang with her boy Max. Then, a close friend of Phil's family, Dad Dean, stopped by for a surprise visit. As you can see, Max does not know a stranger. He seems to love everyone!

Dancing on the floor

I had Max in this IU gear for the first time, so I had to take a picture of him all decked out. It looks like he is dancing on the floor, but he is just doing some non-productive arm movements. Then he wore himself out and started sucking his thumb with his rally cap on. No reason for the rally cap...just something daddy did.
